The Ambush of Attingal

In April 1721, over a century before 1857, Attingal, Kerala staged one of India’s first anti-colonial revolts. Outraged by East India Company trade exploitation centered at Anchuthengu Fort, native forces ambushed and wiped out a 140-member British battalion. The warriors then laid siege to the fort for six months, shattering the illusion of British invincibility. Delhivery bows to the valour of the people of Attingal, whose sacrifices paved our way to freedom.
