The Clash of Halagali

In November 1857, the martial Beda community of Halagali, Karnataka revolted when the British banned Indians from owning weapons. Refusing to surrender their traditional arms, the hunters formed an unbreakable front, fighting back with unmatched archery and matchlocks.
