The Waves of Tuticorin

In 1906, the port town of Tuticorin became the epicenter of India’s economic defiance against imperial trade. Led by V.O. Chidambaram Pillai, local patriots launched the Swadeshi Steam Navigation Company—a premier indigenous shipping line—to shatter the British monopoly on sea trade. Defying severe colonial suppression and harsh imprisonment, Tuticorin proved that freedom extended across the open seas. Delhivery bows to the valour of the people of Tuticorin, whose sacrifices paved our way to freedom.
