The Tribes of Garo Hills

In December 1872, native Garo tribes of Meghalaya launched a fierce resistance against British annexation and heavy taxation. Led by the legendary warrior Pa Togan Sangma, fighters armed only with traditional swords, spears, and plantain shields launched a daring night assault on colonial camps at Matcha Rongkrek. Though cut down by superior firepower, Pa Togan’s martyrdom remains an immortal symbol of defiance. Delhivery bows to the valour of the people of the Garo Hills, whose sacrifices paved our way to freedom.
