The Dignity of Panchalankurichi
In 1799, the earthen fort of Panchalankurichi, Tamil Nadu became the site of a legendary anti-colonial siege. Veerapandiya Kattabomman, chieftain of the region, adamantly refused to pay tribute or submit to British sovereignty. Armed with traditional weapons and muskets, his native troops inflicted heavy casualties on East India Company forces, establishing Tamil Nadu's defiance decades before 1857. Delhivery bows to the valour of the people of Panchalankurichi, whose sacrifices paved our way to freedom.
