The Boycott of Chhota Nagpur

In 1914, a powerful, non-violent tribal uprising, the Tana Bhagat Movement, led by Jatra Bhagat took place against British exploitation in Chhota Nagpur, Jharkhand. Thousands of people launched an absolute economic boycott by refusing to pay agricultural taxes or work for colonial contractors.
