The Clash of Kayyur

In March 1941, the people of Kayyur marched against oppressive taxes and colonial rule. When the protest escalated into a clash, four young organizers—Madathil Appu, Kunhambu Nair, Chirukandan, and Aboobacker, all under 25—were sentenced to death and hanged in 1943, becoming enduring symbols of Kayyur’s peasant resistance. Delhivery bows to the valour of the people of Kayyur, whose sacrifices paved our way to freedom.
