The Navy Revolt of Bombay
In February 1946, Bombay erupted as Indian ratings of the Royal Indian Navy revolted against colonial rule. Over 20,000 sailors across 78 ships struck work, seized naval bases, and hoisted freedom flags. Supported by local industrial workers who shut down the city in solidarity, their defiance dealt a decisive blow to British rule.
