The Force of Kitturu

In October 1824, the princely state of Kittur delivered a crushing blow to British expansionism in South India. Defying an early doctrine of lapse, Rani Chennamma and commander Amatur Balappa fortified Kittur Fort against British annexation. In a fierce battle, local forces shattered the assault and killed British political agent St. John Thackeray, proving their sovereignty could not be crushed. Delhivery bows to the valour of the people of Kittur, whose sacrifices paved our way to freedom.
