The Fear of Midnapore

Beginning in 1931, the revolutionary district of Midnapore earned an immortal reputation as the most dangerous outpost for British rule. Refusing to submit to colonial tyranny, local revolutionaries executed three successive British District Magistrates—James Peddie, Robert Douglas, and Bernard Burge—within two years. This unyielding campaign rendered colonial officials helpless, shattering imperial authority in Bengal. Delhivery bows to the valour of the people of Midnapore, whose sacrifices paved our way to freedom.
