The Defence of Nalgonda

In 1946, Nalgonda became the birthplace of the historic Telangana People's Struggle. When feudal landlords backed by oppressive Razakar forces tried to seize peasant land, Chakali Ilamma mobilized villagers to physically defend her harvest. Armed with farm tools, the community repelled armed mercenaries, sparking a massive peasant uprising across 3,000 villages.
