The Heroics of Padmanabham
In July 1794, Padmanabham, Andhra Pradesh witnessed an early stand against East India Company rule. Chinna Vijayaramaraju, the Raja of Vizianagaram, refused to pay exorbitant British land tributes and marched to face colonial forces in open battle. Fighting gallantly alongside his loyal troops until his death on the battlefield, his sacrifice sparked widespread revolt across the Northern Circars.
