The Protectors of Auwa

In September 1857, Auwa, Rajasthan stood as the epicentre of resistance against imperial rule. Thakur Kushal Singh united local jagirdars and rebel sepoys, defeating British forces and hanging the head of Political Agent Mason at the fort gates. When colonial troops under General Holmes laid siege to Auwa, the defenders held firm in a historic display of defiance.
