The Rebellions of Khurda

In March 1817, Khurda, Odisha became the cradle of the historic Paika Rebellion. Bakshi Jagabandhu led thousands of traditional Paika warriors alongside Kondh tribesmen to storm British posts, burn colonial buildings, and liberate Banapur. Their swift assault forced British authorities to flee, temporarily expelling colonial rule from Khurda.
