The Government of Satara
In 1943, Satara, Maharashtra mounted a formidable challenge to British rule by establishing the parallel government. Led by Krantisinh Nana Patil, freedom fighters built an independent administration across over 150 villages, operating peasant courts, grain banks, and an armed defense wing that dismantled colonial power for nearly three years.
