The Agitation of Lyallpur
In 1907, the agricultural heartland of Lyallpur, Punjab erupted against oppressive British agrarian laws that stripped farmers of land ownership rights. Led by Sardar Ajit Singh, the Pagri Sambhal Jatta movement mobilized massive peasant rallies and boycotted revenue payments. Their intense resistance forced the British Viceroy to completely repeal the unjust laws in a historic victory for Indian farmers.
