The Gathering of Kaipada
In August 1942, during the peak of the Quit India Movement, the rural enclave of Kaipada (Bari region) in Jajpur, Odisha transformed into an epicentre of peasant rebellion. Unarmed villagers marched on colonial administrative posts, burning government records and severing telegraph communications to challenge British rule. When armed police opened fire on the peaceful assembly at Kalamatia, four brave villagers were martyred on the spot. Their sacrifice turned Jajpur into a fortress of unyielding anti-colonial defiance. Delhivery bows to the valour of the people of Jajpur, whose sacrifices paved our way to freedom.
